Gov. Alfredo Marañon Jr. yesterday said President Benigno Aquino’s acknowledgment of his good governance in Negros Occidental strengthens his resolve to do more and work harder for the province.

Aquino, in his State of the Nation Address, said “It has also been my privilege to work with and interact with Governor Alfredo Marañon of Negros Occidental. He is not a party mate, but I think I am part of his fan club because of his good governance in Negros.”

Negros Museum, in partnership with the University of St. La Salle Culture and Arts Program Committee, featured pianist Hector Martinez and flutist Stephen Josephs in Duetto: A Recital of Piano and Flute at Santuario de La Salle, July 28.
“The challenge of is how emotions can happen within one single piece,” said Martinez.
Matinez opened the program with Johannes Brahms’ Zwei Rhapsodien, Op. 79. He said this first piece was meant to explain how emotions can be conveyed through “lyric-less” music.
Together with Josephs, Martinez also performed Johann Nepomuk Hummel’s Flute and Piano Sonata in D Major, Op. 50 and Ondine Achille Debussy’s Ondine from Preludes among others.
